*HINT.. Need a quick table decoration for your Labor Day picnic? It's the end of summer, and a great time to start preparing for the fall season. This time we're going to show you how to make a quick and easy basket that can be used as a centerpiece for a party or to give as a gift.
This simple basket makes a welcomed gift or shows a "I'm so happy you're here", welcome to your guests as they arrive at your table.
To make this unique basket, you'll need to find a plain wicker basket at a craft store, or you could check out the garage and yard sales in your neighborhood. Maybe you just luckily have an old basket lying around the house that you didn't know what you were going to do with. Here's your chance to put that old basket to good use. Make sure you remove all dust from basket. I suggest you dip it in warm soapy water and let it dry for a few hours or even overnight. We are going to spray paint this basket, so it needs to be thoroughly dry. While your basket is drying, you'll have time to run out and purchase a few supplies to decorate your basket. You will need: 1. Basket (which you may already have
drying) Directions: Drawing Motifs: On paper, draw freehand veggies and fruit; cut out motifs. Transfer outline to tin; press hard to incise line; cut out.
Painting: Spray paint basket yellow. Let dry. Spray paint motifs yellow. Add colored paint, spraying lightly for highlights, heavier for shading. Let dry. When motifs and basket are thoroughly dried, hot glue gun motifs to basket. Add fabric to basket (napkin, fabric, towel, etc.) Fill with your favorite veggies, fruits, or a mixture of both. You may even add a decorative bow to basket handle for an extra touch if you're giving this basket as a gift.
