JOEY'S FRIENDS
&

RELATIVES

Hey everyone...Thanks for coming to visit my other friends and my relatives too!  I'm so happy to see you!  The four-legged friends and even this one silly two-legged relative I'll introduce you to are the kids I have grown up with.  Most of them are pretty cool, but sometimes some of them drive me crazy.  I guess that's because I'm older than most of them.  I'll be 15 years old on September 15, 2004...  (my "Golden Birthday") so I don't care to take any guff from these youngsters.  Ok, so here ya go.  Scroll on down and say hey to the rest of the gang that lived or still lives at my house.

Crackers

This kid has been around for 19 years, so she was here a few years before me.  She is one messy, crabby, ornery bird if she doesn't get "what" she wants to eat, "when" she wants it.  I don't know how Mom & Dad put up with her.  I can only say that this is the one time I appreciate being deaf!  I think she's the one that made me go deaf in the first place!  Anyway, she's just happy as a cockatoo, sitting on her perch, watching a movie with the family.

When Crackers came to live with us, she didn't have any feathers.  We rescued her from sure death, which, most likely would have come in a few short weeks.   She's one lucky Cockatoo!

Walter

Walter Pigeon came to us after he was hit by a train.  I don't know who hit who or what hit what, but Walter had a broken leg that never healed.  He scooted around for two years with his deformed leg before he passed away.

Murphy
(aka) "The Smurf"

Murphy originally belonged to an old biker, who used to take her to work at construction sites and chain her up all day long.  He was tired of taking her to work, so he was planning on taking her to the pound to have her euthanized.  Mom & Dad took her home with us, and there she lived, happily, for 15 years.  Murphy was a good girl.  She loved everyone and every 4-legged friend we brought home or any that just came to visit.  She would take care of them all.  She was everybody's mother.  She would baby-sit rabbits, turtles, kittens, or human babies.  She was the best!  I miss her.

You were our special girl,
and Joseph's best friend.
You gave us all your love
until the very end.
We love you and miss you;
Always in our hearts.

Me and My Buddy AndyCat

Never, has there ever been a more loving cat in all our lives.  This picture was taken one week before he went to the hospital with a case of Pancreatitis.  AndyCat was a lover, a hugger, and very vocal.  He talked non-stop while you were talking to him.  He would tell you all the stories of his day.  How many lizards he chased, how many spiders he caught.  He would tell you his dreams if you would listen.  He loved his bed filled with blankets so he could snuggle.  If anyone laid a blanket down, he would lay on it.  He liked my blanket the best.  He liked to cuddle with me too.  Daddy found AndyCat in a snowstorm in Colorado almost 18 years ago.  As I said, Andy was in the hospital at the end of May of 2003.  He was there for a week, just finishing up the last of his antibiotics, and Mom was going to pick him up on Monday morning.  The hospital called on Sunday night, June 8, 2003 to say that AndyCat passed away in his sleep.  Our lives are very empty without Andy here, but he will remain in our hearts and memories forever.  We know that he's playing with "The Smurf", somewhere on the other side of Rainbow Bridge.  We know that they can both run and play and be well again.  We'll all be together one day.

You're just away for a time,
playing with your friends.
Someday we'll meet again,
and together we'll cross the
Rainbow Bridge
Never absent from our hearts
We love you and miss you

The Legend of Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The Squirrel

He was our little guy with the funny name
A baby alone, in a big snowstorm he came
To live his long life with his family & friends
We all miss you here, but we know you are
happy and romping with Smurf & AndyCat

He got that name because he makes funny meows that sound like a squirrel.  Old Squirrel is almost 19 years old.  We figure his birthday is about October.  Squirrel was saved just as AndyCat was...during a Denver, CO. snowstorm.  He is getting very thin and losing his hair, just like an old man.  He has been a very independent guy for many years.  For the last couple of  years now he has been looking to have his head petted now and then.  But, not too much.  He still prefers to be left alone most of the time.  He just wants his food, water, and treats, and he asks for nothing more, except a clean litterbox.

These pages were not published in time...

The Squirrel crossed over Rainbow Bridge July 12, 2004.  He is playing with the other's who have gone before him.  He is happy once again to see everyone I know.

This is from my Mom...

A Lesson In Humility

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If  you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can face the world without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against any creed, color, religion, or politics...

Then, my friend, you are ALMOST as good as your dog!
