Where Do Pets Come From?
| It is reported that the following edition of the Book
of Genesis was discovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls. If authentic,
it would shed light on the question, "Where do pets come
from?"
Adam said, "Lord, when I was in the garden, you walked with me
every day. Now I do not see you anymore. I am lonesome here
and it is difficult for me to remember how much you love me."

Things We Can Learn From A Dog
| 1. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a
joyride. 2. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy. 3. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. 4. When it's in your best interest, always practice obedience. 5. Let others know when they've invaded your territory. 6. Take naps and stretch before rising. 7. Run, romp and play daily. 8. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. 9. Be loyal. 10. Never pretend to be something you're not. 11. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. 12. When someone else is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and muzzle them gently. 13. Thrive on attention and let people touch you. 14. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. 15. On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shade tree. 16. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body. 17. No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout. Run right back and make friends. 18. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. |
A Dog's Prayer
| Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all
the world is more grateful for kindness than this loving heart of mine. Do not break my spirit with a stick, for although I might lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn. Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when the sound of your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear. Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life. And, my friend, when I am very old and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, don't make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see to it that my life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands. With Unconditional Love, |
My Best Friend
| The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in
this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never
proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. A man's dog stands
by him in prosperity and poverty, in health and sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground when the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. |
